Brandon Goetz of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Lennon Schriever of Ogden will deliver the student messages at the Wartburg College Commencement on Saturday, May 24.
Based on nominations from their peers and in consultation with faculty and staff, Wartburg College President Rebecca Ehretsman invited the seniors to give remarks on behalf of the Class of 2025 at the ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. in the Hoover Fieldhouse & Track in the Ohle Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center.
Goetz, a psychology and sociology major with concentrations in criminology and criminal justice, will pursue a doctorate in counseling psychology at the University of Central Arkansas following graduation.
At Wartburg, he participated in six service trips that took him across the U.S., serving as a student leader on three of those trips. He also spent a May Term in Rwanda, volunteering with Solid Africa and completing restorative justice training through the Kigali Genocide Memorial. On campus, he lived in The Residence, where his community service project paired him with a local church to address food insecurity.
Following his junior year, Goetz completed an undergraduate research internship at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where his team studied the scope of hate crime victimization in the south. He also participated in Dance Marathon and was a member of Symphonic Band.
Schriever, a music performance major with a vocal emphasis, will complete a summer arts administration internship at the Des Moines Metro Opera before pursuing a graduate degree in vocal music performance.
Whether performing or working behind the scenes, Schriever is passionate about using the performing arts as a platform to foster accessibility and drive meaningful change. At Wartburg, they were a member of the Wartburg Players with roles as an actor and student director. They also served as president and worked to ensure theater opportunities were available to all interested students. During May Term, they did independent research, visiting Midwest opera companies as part of a larger project focused on how organizations are making opera more accessible.
Schriever also was co-president of Wartburg Alliance, a member of Wartburg Choir and an Orientation leader.
