Ellie Meyer ’25 didn’t just go to college — she made the most of every second at Wartburg. After excelling in biology, leading clubs, and competing with the cross country and track teams, she’s now gearing up for her next big adventure: vet school at Iowa State University.

“Wartburg set the foundation of knowledge to prepare me for graduate school,” said Meyer, the 2025 Outstanding Senior in Biology. “Additionally, having to take classes from all disciplines made me a well-rounded candidate and got me accepted into three different vet schools!”

In addition to academics and athletics, Meyer also was a leader in the Pre-Vet Club, graded lab notebooks for chemistry, and helped her peers as a genetics tutor and supplemental instructor for physiology. Her involvement outside the classroom was backed up by plenty of hands-on experience in it.

“Through classes and required senior research, I helped with multiple research projects and even had my name on a published paper. I was also able to take the human cadaver class where I was helped with the dissection of the cadaver, which is a unique and great experience,” said Meyer.

As a student-athlete, Meyer had the opportunity to travel across the U.S. with both the cross country and track teams.

“My favorite Wartburg memory must be outdoor nationals my sophomore year, where we had four steeple runners on the podium between the men and women. This was a great showing by the Wartburg steeple crew, and I was so proud to represent Wartburg with this group,” said Meyer.

Now that she is just days away from graduation, Meyer is ready to offer some words of advice to the next generation of Wartburg students.

“Use the resources available. I was able to thrive here due to SI sessions, the tutor lab, and advice from upperclassmen. I truly believe I would not have done as well in my classes without those resources. Those individuals taught me how to study,” said Meyer. “Additionally, just take advantage of opportunities given to you, it goes by super quickly. Call your family! Go Knights!”
