Twenty-three Wartburg College students and recent graduates were recognized for their work with student media at the annual Iowa College Media Association Awards.

KWAR, the student-run radio station, received the Audio Excellence of the Year Award for the second year straight, and KWAR DJs swept the Best Air Personality category.

Individual awards were given to the following students and recent graduates:

Alyson Hasner received first place for Best Air Personality, Best Show (Entertainment) and Audio Feature Package; second place for Best Sports Program; and third place for Best Newscast all in radio.

Makenna Kammerer received second place for Best Air Personality in radio.

Addy Wells received third place for Best Air Personality in radio.

Landon Jepson received first place for Best News Programming and Audio Feature Package; second place for Best PSA, Best Newscast, Long Form Audio Package and Creative Audio; and third place for Best Promo in radio. He also earned second place in Best Video Sportscasting in the video division.

Lizzie Hobby received first place for Best Newscast, third place for Audio Feature Package and honorable mention for Best Promo and Best PSA in radio. She also earned an honorable mention for Best Short Film.

Zach Hiney received first place for Best Video Sportscasting in the video division. He also earned third place for Best Newscast and Best Sports Broadcast, and honorable mention for Best Sports Broadcast in radio.

Christopher Guerrero received third place for Best Sports Broadcast in radio.

James Cheaye received third place for Best Show (Entertainment) in radio.

Quentin Jackson received third place for Best Show (Entertainment) in radio.

Jax Caddell received second place for Best Sports Broadcast in radio and Best Video Sportscasting in video.

Caleb Kammerer received first place for Best Video Sportscasting in the video division, second place for Best Sports Broadcast in radio and an honorable mention for Best Sports Broadcast in radio.

Keziah Ambundo received second place for Audio Feature Package and third place for Creative Audio in radio, as well as an honorable mention for Best Short Film.

Gavin Lund received first place for Long Form Audio Package in radio.

Jobey Olson received honorable mention for Creative Audio in radio.

Isabella DeVenuto received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary.

Ben Revier received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary and Best Short Film.

Nick Van Laningham received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary.

Dillon Kremer received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary.

Andrew Stille received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary.

Hannah Dutcher received honorable mention for Best Long Form Video Documentary.

Lauren Ulveling received honorable mention for Best Short Film.

Chiefy Loma received honorable mention for Best Short Film.

Danika Rademacher received honorable mention for Best Short Film.

Student media advisers are Ron Johnson, Pam Ohrt and Ashley Jones. Penni Pier, the department chair, oversees the Capstone program.

ICMA is made up of 12 Iowa colleges. The annual conference is held in conjunction with the Iowa Newspaper Association’s conference.
