Wartburg now offers an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement for undergraduate students as well as current teachers in the field. The ESL endorsement is a set of courses, required to teach English as a second language in kindergarten and grades one through twelve.
ESL is a high-demand subject of instruction that continues to experience growth in schools across the country. ESL is considered one of the five main teacher shortage areas in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Loan forgiveness programs are available for teachers in shortage areas.
