Two Wartburg students presented their research at the Midwestern Regional American Chemical Society Conference Oct. 26-28 in Manhattan, Kansas.

Seniors Kathryn Chabal and Caleb Milius presented “Coordination Chemistry and Reactivity of Cobalt Complexes of tapa (tris(6-amino-2-pyridylmethyl)amine).” The research was done under the direction of Matthew Zart, assistant professor of chemistry.

Chabal, from Washington, is majoring in biochemistry. Milius, from Denver, is majoring in biology and biochemistry.

Their research is seeking a viable interface between biology and chemistry by using chemistry to mimic the way biology solves specific problems.
