David Fienen, an emeritus professor at Gustavus Adolphus College, will be the guest artist at Wartburg College’s “Bach’s Lunch” organ concert series Friday, Nov. 11.

The concert will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Wartburg Chapel. The recital will be preceded by a noon lunch and explanation of the program in Chapel Commons.

Fienen will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue in A Minor, BWV 543,” Jan Bender’s “Sanctus” from “Missa pro organo opus 52” and “Es sungen drei Engel,” a concerto by Hans Friedrich Micheelsen.

At Gustavus, Fienen was cantor at Christ Chapel, taught organ and music theory, chaired the music department and was provost and dean for two years before his retirement. He toured Europe as an organ soloist with the Gustavus brass ensembles and Wind Orchestra. He is a keyboardist with the Mankato Symphony Orchestra and St. Peter Choral Society as well as a pianist/organist with the Brass Art Quartet.

“Bach’s Lunch” attendees are invited to bring a lunch or order one from Wartburg’s Den-Rittersaal by the Wednesday prior to the performance by contacting Marcia Haugen, music department office coordinator, at marcia.haugen@wartburg.edu or 352-8300.
