September 17, 2025
A strategic and mission-driven leader, Green brings more than 15 years in higher education administration to this new role.
“I’m honored to become part of the Wartburg College community. This is an exciting opportunity for me to help drive strategic initiatives that ultimately support student success and institutional excellence,” Green said. “In addition, Wartburg’s mission deeply aligns with my values, and I’m honored to join a community that empowers students to lead and serve. I’m excited to contribute my skills and experience to advance the philanthropic and strategic efforts that support Wartburg students and alumni now and for generations to come.”
Green began her career at Cornell as an assistant volleyball and women’s basketball coach before moving into institutional research. Since then, she has served as an assistant dean of the college, senior director of advancement operations and strategic initiatives, and interim chief business officer.
“Katie brings a wealth of experience both within advancement and higher education administration, and I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome her to Wartburg,” said Scott Leisinger, Wartburg’s vice president for institutional advancement. “Her ability to lead our advancement operations, working with our existing team, will significantly enhance our opportunities to purposefully engage alumni and friends and leverage their support to enable students to experience more.”
At Cornell, Green led the creation of a director-level leadership group that streamlined operations, strengthened collaboration across divisions, and advanced new campuswide initiatives. She also managed the oversight of endowed funds within the academic division, guided grant management and compliance, and developed strategies for both annual giving and comprehensive campaigns. In addition, she supported the transition to a new donor relations management system. Throughout her work, Green leveraged data, employee feedback, and industry best practices to drive meaningful improvements.
As Wartburg’s executive director for advancement, Green will oversee the division’s daily operations while aligning divisional efforts to maximize constituent engagement and increase efficiencies in operations and data management.
“I believe that what we do is about and for people, but our systems are what support all individuals and establish the bar for what can be done. I look forward to joining the efforts and initiatives Wartburg is currently engaged in, like the Our Brightest Days campaign, as well as those to come,” Green said.
