Young Alumni Award 2024: Brooke Lentz Willson ’13
May 31, 2024

Brooke Lentz Willson ’13
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Since graduating from Wartburg, Brooke Lentz Willson has spent her career and spare time being “the person you needed when you were younger,” ensuring better outcomes for future generations.
Willson does this both through individual connections as a volunteer and through advocacy, whether professional or otherwise. While her career began in social services, she now uses her MBA in the corporate setting, where she proposes change like paid parental leave for all. Her work with Women United has included education on the state legislative process so the group can better advocate for bills that improve women’s health outcomes.
“Her selflessness and dedication to community causes are not just admirable but integral to her well-being,” wrote June Rainbow, one of Willson’s nominators. “Whether it’s volunteering her time or leading community initiatives, Brooke consistently goes above and beyond, demonstrating a sense of compassion and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.”
Willson has previously received the Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award; a Young Leader Award from her area United Way, which she currently chairs; and the Rotarian of the Year Award from her local Rotary. She has also been involved with the Jaycees, Junior League, Junior Achievement, her church, Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Young Parents Network, and Willis Dady Homeless Shelter.
“I don’t know how she manages it all and plays these different roles so seamlessly — family/mom, work, extensive community service member — but she succeeds at all and I’m proud to know her,” wrote Jean Ritchey, another of her nominators.
For the many ways she serves the community around her, the Wartburg College Alumni Board is pleased to present a 2024 Young Alumni Award to Brooke Lentz Willson.
