Wartburg College student media have won 12 first-place awards from the Society for Collegiate Journalists, an organization that recognizes achievement in journalism and help establish relationships between students and members of the profession.

The Trumpet staff earned second place for Newspaper Overall Excellence for the Oct. 13 issue. The Cross Wire staff earned a first place finish for Online Magazine Overall Excellence. Annika Wall, a December 2020 graduate, led the way for individual student awards with eight first place nods, as well as four second place, one third place and three honorable mentions.

Her honors include first place in the Infographic, Podcast, Front Page (Print Only), News Page (Print Only), Feature Page (Print Only), Radio Feature Package, Radio Sports Package and Television Live Sports Broadcast. She also earned second place in Multimedia News Story, Multimedia Feature Story, Sports News and Sports Page (Print Only) and third place for Sports Page (Print Only). Her honorable mentions came in Photo Slideshow, Front Page (Print Only) and Feature Page (Print Only).

Ryan Reebenacker, who earned first place in Multimedia Sports Story, Beat Reporting and Radio Sports Package. He also earned second place in Multimedia Feature Story, Multimedia Sports Story and Sports Column and third place in Sports Feature Stories and Sports Column.
Nathan Stephany, who earned second place in Multimedia Series. He also earned third place in Multimedia Series and an honorable mention in Multimedia Feature Story, Radio Commercial and Television Feature Package.
Silvia Oakland, who earned second place in Podcast and third place in Multimedia Series and Special COVID-19 Coverage as well as an honorable mention in Radio Commercial.
Ethan Pfaltzgraff, who earned third place in Multimedia Series.
Juliana Pelaez, who earned third place in Multimedia Series.
Alexa Ganzeveld, who earned first place in Photo Essay (Print Only) and third place in Feature Page (Print Only).
Joshua Hamlyn, who earned first place in Television Live Sports Broadcast and second place in Radio Sports Package.
Courtney Moser, who earned second place in Television New Package.
Taylor Webb, who earned second place in Television Feature Package.
