The Cedar Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Wartburg College will host a Pipe Organ Encounter on Wartburg’s campus June 26-July 1.

The Pipe Organ Encounter, for students ages 13 to 18, is an introduction to the pipe organ through instruction in organ playing, repertoire, history, design and construction. These regional summer music institutes provide private and group instruction in service playing and solo repertoire, opportunities to learn about the musical heritage of various religious denominations and a chance for young musicians to meet others with similar interests.

Seven POEs will be held across the country this summer. POE sites were selected by the AGO Committee on the New Organist and approved by the AGO National Council after applications by AGO host chapters.

Youth from across the Midwest will attend the Cedar Valley POE. Seven faculty members will teach lessons and workshops and perform recitals.
