The Wartburg Choir will kick off a five-state tour with a home concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, in the Wartburg Chapel.

The choir, under the direction of Lee Nelson, will perform a wide range of music that explores love through a variety of lenses.

“Some songs will be familiar and others will be new, but they all carry an important message of love, respect and affection that can influence how we live our lives,” Nelson said.

The concert will include music by classical composers such as J.S Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and William Byrd as well as music by contemporary composers like Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, Jake Runestad and Stacey Gibbs.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, also will be live-streamed on Knight Vision at https://www.wartburg.edu/knightvision/.

The choir’s domestic tour includes stops in Midland and San Antonio, Texas; Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M.; Colorado Springs and Denver, Colo.; Lincoln, Neb.; and Des Moines. The Denver performance will be at a special event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the college’s Wartburg West Urban Studies Program.
