School counselors and administrators, parents, students and community leaders are invited to participate in the IMPower Bullying Prevention Workshop Saturday, April 2.

The free conference, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is in the Waverly Health Center Tendrils Banquet Room. The workshop is sponsored by Wartburg College’s Slife Institute for Social Work Consultation, Research & Training and Cedar Valley Friends of the Family.

Jennifer Laughlin Stevenson, an author, entrepreneur and motivational speaker, will give the keynote address focusing on empowering girls and the benefits of having a mentor. The afternoon will be spent in breakout sessions brainstorming elementary school curriculum centered on bullying prevention and empowerment. Facilitators will use the ideas to create a mentor program for elementary-aged girls.
