Trenton Teske, a 2012 graduate of BCLUW High School, will return to central Iowa Friday, March 18, to perform with the Wartburg Choir.

The concert, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1105 Washington Ave., Eldora, begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Wartburg Choir, under the direction of Lee Nelson, will perform a wide range of music that explores love through a variety of lenses.

“Some songs will be familiar and others will be new, but they all carry an important message of love, respect and affection that can influence how we live our lives,” Nelson said.

The concert will include music by classical composers such as J.S Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and William Byrd as well as music by contemporary composers like Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, Jake Runestad and Stacey Gibbs.

“Getting to perform with the Wartburg Choir at my home church will definitely be a highlight of my four years here at Wartburg, and I’m sure it will be a highlight for many of the members in the audience as well,” said Teske, who will graduate with a degree in music education in May.

The internationally acclaimed Wartburg Choir performs sacred music from all historical periods and styles. Choir members are chosen by audition and represent most academic disciplines on campus. The choir makes annual concert tours throughout the United States and travels abroad every three years during the college’s one-month May Term.

Wartburg College in Waverly is a selective liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), internationally recognized for community engagement. The college’s 1,537 students come from 55 countries and 28 U.S. states.
