The Wartburg College Symphonic Band will perform at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly Saturday, March 12.

The 7:30 p.m. concert, directed by Scott Muntefering, will feature “Ignition” by Todd Stalter, “Joy in All Things” by Brian Balmages, “Children of the Shrine March” by James Swearingen and more.

“‘Joy in All Things’ has parts of Wartburg’s loyalty song in it, and to hear the band perform is awesome,” said Angela Zook, a Symphonic Band member and president of the student-led Catholic Knights.

The concert also will include performances by the Don Bosco High School saxophone choir, saxophone quartet, percussion ensemble, brass quartet and woodwind choir, all under the direction of Myron Mikita. The Symphonic Band will join the high school musicians for one song.

Dominique Cawley, a senior lecturer in music at Wartburg, will be a featured flute soloist.

The concert is free, but food donations for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank will be accepted.

“We are hoping to collect over 300 pounds of donations so we can join the 300-pound club,” said Jamie Harrings, Symphonic Band president.
