Wartburg College will host to the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America’s Freedom Winds Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m., in Wartburg Chapel.

Composed of six virtuoso airman musicians, the ensemble regularly performs community outreach concerts and provides music for military retirements, changes of command and other official military functions.

The ensemble adds percussion to the traditional woodwind quintet instrumentation to enhance standard literature and increase their musical capabilities. Members of the group have diverse musical interests, which leads to a diverse repertoire that includes jazz and ragtime classics along with popular themes from Broadway’s hit shows to Hollywood’s greatest films.

The concert is free and open to the public. Advance tickets are available in the Department of Music Office (Bachman Fine Arts Center 118) on the Wartburg College campus.
