Wartburg College’s annual Meistersinger Honor Band Festival will feature nearly 200 high school students from the Midwest Feb. 6-7.
The college’s Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will perform Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2:15 p.m., in Neumann Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble will perform “Composition VIII” by Leon Vliex and the Symphonic Band will perform “Ignition” by Todd Stalter and “Joy in All Things” by Brian Balmages.
The high school honor groups will begin their concerts at 3 p.m. under the direction of John R. Locke, director of bands at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and Leonard Upham, retired band director from UNI Price Lab Schools.
Wartburg’s Knightliters jazz band will perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in Neumann Auditorium, under the direction of Al Jacobson.
The Wartburg College Concert Bands will sell t-shirts for $10 to raise funds to transport instruments for the Wind Ensemble’s European tour during May Term.
