Wartburg College Castle Singers to perform April 11
April 2, 2015
The Wartburg College Castle Singers will perform Saturday, April 11, at 4 p.m., in the Wartburg Chapel.
The spring concert is a prelude to the choir’s upcoming tour, April 30-May 17, which includes two Illinois concerts, 11 performances throughout Germany and one in the Czech Republic. A donation will be accepted to support this and future music ensemble tours.
The performance will include “Il est bel et bon” by Pierre Passereau, “Verbum caro factum est” by Hans Leo Hassler, “Animal Crackers” volume I and II by Eric Whitacre and “Three Whitman Settings” by René Clausen from Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass.” Other selections include “Get Away, Jordan” arranged by Stacey V. Gibbs and “In My Life” written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and arranged by Steve Zegree.
The Wartburg College Castle Singers has been hailed as a model of musicianship since its inception in 1950. Today, under the direction of Nicki Bakko Toliver, the chamber ensemble prepares a wide variety of repertoire from Byrd to The Beatles and beyond.
