Wartburg College’s annual Senior Exhibit will showcase works from six students beginning Thursday, April 9, in the Waldemar A. Schmidt Gallery in Bachman Fine Arts Center.
An opening-night reception begins at 7 p.m. The exhibit, open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through May 24, is free and open to the public.
“When I was younger, my two favorite pastimes were reading and art. Now, I am able to take my passion for both and create something I am truly proud of,” said Michelle Croell, a senior from New Hampton.
Other featured artists include:
Dakota Boesch, Metairie, Louisiana
Jacoby Firkins, Iowa City
Lauren Matysik, Clive
Haihang Shi, China
Zukhro Sokhibova, Tajikistan
“My photography focuses on gender roles and sexuality by taking iconic pin-up photographs with a twist,” Matysik said. “By using men as models as opposed to women, I hope that viewers will take a moment to have a laugh, then realize the sexual and social implications of these images.”
