State Bank has committed $25,000 to Wartburg College’s Transforming Tomorrow comprehensive campaign.
The gift is part of the campaign’s $5 million Waverly Community Appeal, which launched publicly March 22. To date, local donors have pledged $4.5 million to the effort. Co-chairs Mike and Darcy Byl, Dave and Peggy Rathe and Lindley and Joanne Jones head the community appeal.
“State Bank of Waverly has been a strong Waverly business for decades and has always been a generous supporter of Wartburg and the Waverly-Shell Rock community,” Dave Rathe said. “This gift toward the Transforming Tomorrow campaign will help Wartburg reach its goal and is very much appreciated.”
The $75 Transforming Tomorrow campaign, which launched publicly in October, includes $37 million for scholarships, $14 million to for infrastructure and technology improvements, $16 million for academic support and $8 million for the annual fund.
“State Bank understands the impact Wartburg has on the lives of young Iowans by educating them to become productive and contributing citizens and as an economic engine in Waverly and the Cedar Valley economy,” said John Rigler, State Bank president and CEO. “We were happy to support the college and its Transforming Tomorrow campaign.”
