Sample healthy foods, take advantage of free services and enjoy the first Waverly Farmers Market of the season at the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center’s sixth annual Community Health Fair.

The free event, co-sponsored by Waverly Health Center and Hy-Vee, will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at The W.

Participants can register for door prizes that include two summer memberships to The W and $100 gifts cards donated by Scheels, Meyer Pharmacy, CrawDaddy Outdoors, Hy-Vee and Bike Tech.

Dawn Wiegmann, RN, director of wellness and health promotions at The W, said the Farmers Market will set up at the entrance to The W, and the Health Fair will be in the Hall of Champions on the second floor of The W.

Free services include:

  • Food samples from Waverly Hy-Vee Health Mart
  • Information about Balloon Sinuplasty and other new techniques from Dr. Ed Gonzales, ear, nose and throat specialist at Waverly Health Center.
  • Blood pressure readings offered by Cedar Valley Hospice.
  • Blood pressure, BMI and body fat percentage testing offered by Allen Occupational Health.
  • Video otoscope and hearing aid cleaning by Hearing Unlimited.
  • Posture screenings by Calease Chiropractic.
  • Free eyewear cleaning and minor eyewear adjustments from Wolfe Clinic Family Vision Center.
  • Free chair massages by Waverly Chiropractic Specialties.
  • Samples of cheese curds, butter and ice cream from Hansen’s Farm Fresh Dairy (products also available for sale).
  • Samples of healthy egg dishes from the Iowa Egg Council.
