The Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center will offer free admission to community residents and Wartburg Homecoming visitors on Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27.

“We invite area residents to bring their families for a day of free fun at The W,” said executive director Sheila Kittleson. “The pool and water slide, the climbing wall, the fitness area, and indoor courts will all be available.”

The W is open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Saturday pool hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the climbing wall is open from 1 to 6 p.m. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult while using the facilities.

In addition to the Saturday free days, The W will offer $5 guest passes on Friday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 21, as part of Homecoming Weekend. Adult guest passes normally cost $10.

The Wartburg track and field team is sponsoring a Homecoming Children’s Track Meet at The W on Saturday morning, Oct. 20, for ages 3 to 12. Check-in runs from 8 to 8:30 a.m., with events scheduled from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in Hoover Fieldhouse and Track. Cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt for those registering by Wednesday, Oct. 17.

The Zesty Orange Restaurant at The W is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, offering a variety of salads, sandwiches, hot entrees, desserts and beverages.
