Vallem will continue to lead national social work advocacy group

Dr. Susan Vallem, professor of social work at Wartburg College, has begun a second two-year term leading a national social work advocacy group.
Vallem will continue as chair of the Action Network for Social Work Education and Research coalition. ANSWER’s members from education, research and practice organizations collaborate to address issues and promote the profession’s effectiveness with members of the executive and legislative branches of government.
Issues range from child welfare to meeting the needs of nursing home residents as well as challenges faced while serving individuals and communities.
Vallem, a Wartburg graduate, has taught at the college since 1987. She has practical experience with medical social work, clinical counseling with individuals and families, and disaster mental health.
