Cardio tennis, a new six-week specialty class, will debut June 4 at the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center.

The high-energy class, which is open to all area residents, will combine tennis with cardiovascular exercises for a full-body and calorie-burning aerobic workout.

“It will offer sociability with fun people of all abilities,” said Nilan Lansing, assistant director of group fitness. “If you’ve never played tennis, this is a great introduction to the sport. If you are an experienced, high-level player, it is the best way to train.”

One-hour classes will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, June 4-July 11, at the Wartburg outdoor tennis courts. The beginner-intermediate level starts at 4:30 p.m. with an intermediate-advanced level scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

New six-week sessions of four other specialty classes begin June 4, and an individualized Sports Performance Enhancement Program will begin June 18, all at The W.
