Clinton Hall Renovation from May 2016

Wartburg College has surpassed its $8 million fundraising goal for the Clinton Hall renovation project, the capital centerpiece of the college’s $75 million Transforming Tomorrow campaign.

Recent donations from nearly 500 members of the Wartburg community matched a $1 million challenge grant by Ray and Judy McCaskey, both 1965 graduates, and a $500,000 challenge grant from the R.J. McElroy Trust. When combined with previous donations, a total of $8.2 million has been secured for Clinton Hall.

“We’re so pleased the challenge was met, and we actually went over it a little bit,” said Judy McCaskey.

“While it was a long process, we feel really good about the result,” said Ray McCaskey. “We really appreciate everybody rising to the challenge and pitching in to make this happen. Wartburg has a lot of very supportive and generous friends. It brought out the best in everybody.”

Construction on the project, which will modernize a residence hall built in 1957 and last added to in 1966, is underway and scheduled to be completed before students return to campus in the fall. It includes major interior updates and a new addition, including:

  • Updated student rooms, with new furniture, wall finishes and flooring, as well as modernized bathroom facilities.
  • A modern classroom, tutoring and collaborative study spaces, a computer lab and a faculty apartment.
  • Energy-efficient upgrades, including a new roof, new windows and updated plumbing, electrical and heating systems, as well as air conditioning throughout.
  • Social and gaming lounges and a small movie theater.
  • An accessible entrance and elevator that will make Clinton Hall compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • “It is exciting to see this long-anticipated project taking shape on campus,” said President Darrel Colson. “The enhanced living experience and expanded opportunities for learning in the new Clinton Hall will help us continue to provide a great residential education for our students.”

Additional donations will be accepted through the summer to defray the cost of furnishings. To learn more about the Clinton Hall project or to make a gift, call 866-219-9115 or visit www.wartburg.edu/clinton.
