Farmers State Bank has committed $25,000 to Wartburg College’s Transforming Tomorrow comprehensive campaign in support of the planned Clinton Hall renovation.

The gift is part of the campaign’s Waverly Community Appeal, which raised about $5.25 million.

Rodney Duroe, the bank’s CEO and chief financial officer, said the gift was made to recognize that “Wartburg has been an outstanding member of the Waverly community over the years.”

Farmers State Bank, which started as Farmers Bank of Jesup in 1879, opened its Waverly branch this spring.

“We’re grateful for the generous support of Farmers State Bank and welcome them to Waverly,” said Scott Leisinger, Wartburg College vice president for institutional advancement. “Wartburg has long benefitted from the partnership of the local business community, evidenced most recently through the success of our Waverly Community Appeal, and we’re grateful to see FSB jump on board and help to continue that tradition.”

The $75 million Transforming Tomorrow campaign includes $37 million for scholarships, $14 million for infrastructure and technology improvements, $16 million for academic support programs and $8 million for the annual fund.
