Music for piano and flute will be featured in the next Castle Chamber Series: Music in the Afternoon concert Sunday, March 2, at Wartburg College.

Sean Botkin, professor of piano at the University of Northern Iowa, and Margaret Cornils Luke, a flutist who soon will give her sixth solo recital at Carnegie Hall, will perform during the 2 p.m. hour-long concert in the Hagemann Castle Room.

General admission is $5. Tickets are available at the door. Students with valid ID are free.

The artists will perform works by Poulenc, Prokofiev, and Taktakishvili. Botkin will perform the “Piano Sonata No. 2” by Scriabin. Rounding out the program is Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio.”

The Castle Chamber Series season features some of the finest Cedar Valley musicians and guest artists. The concerts tear down the “fourth wall,” allowing for audience discussions with the musicians during and after the performances.

The season will close April 3 with Botkin joined by UNI cellist Suzanne Bullard and Wartburg College clarinetist Eric Wachmann.
