Wartburg instrumental ensembles to perform Sunday

Eight ensembles from the Wartburg College Concert Bands will present a recital Sunday, Feb. 19.

The groups will perform at 4 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel. Admission is free.

According to Dr. Craig A. Hancock, director of bands, the ensembles are an outreach program of the Wartburg College Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. The groups are available to perform at churches in the Waverly area and in host churches when the bands travel on tour.

In addition to 25 student musicians, Hancock will also perform in Sunday’s recital, which will feature three trombone quartets plus a trumpet quartet, saxophone quartet, tuba quartet, brass quintet and trombone duet.

The College and Black Student Union partnered to bring Rodney Lewis of Rodney's Kitchen in Waterloo to campus to prepare a traditional Black meal for dinner in Mensa as part of the College and organization's celebration of Black History Month, as reported by the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
