Student Life Transportation Services
Wartburg College offers limited transportation services designed to support students’ essential mobility needs off campus. These services help connect students to local resources, medical appointments, and travel hubs when personal transportation isn’t available. While not intended to replace daily commuting, our transportation options aim to reduce barriers, promote student well‑being, and ensure access to key services throughout the academic year.

Security will continue to provide transportation to the Waverly Health Center and other nearby medical appointments when staff are available. Students are encouraged to contact Security directly to request this assistance, by calling (319) 352-9999.
The Student Life Office can provide transportation to medical appointments within the Cedar Valley, provided with enough advance notice and available vehicles. The Student Life staff will make every effort to accommodate transportation needs, but availability cannot be guaranteed. Students are strongly encouraged to explore other options first, such as arranging transportation with peers and other supporters.
To make a transportation request, please read the following policies and submit your request using the button below:
- All transportation requests must be submitted at five business days in advance (Monday–Friday) to ensure availability and proper coordination. Same-day or last-minute requests cannot be accommodated.
- Personal travel, errands, or non-medical trips are not permitted.
- Student organization leaders are encouraged to contact their organization advisor if they need assistance in purchasing supplies off campus.
- The Student Life Office is unable to support ongoing transportation needs for employment or internships & field experience.

- Students are expected to provide accurate appointment or event details at the time of scheduling. Failure to follow this policy may result in delays or denial of transportation services.

Airport Shuttle Service
Wartburg offers shuttle service at the beginning and end of longer academic breaks during the academic year. Email shuttle@wartburg.edu or call 319-352-8260 (Student Life) with any questions about the shuttle program. Shuttle seats can be reserved anytime, but ticketing for each shuttle closes 7 days before the date of shuttle travel.
| Location | One Way | Roundtrip |
|---|---|---|
| Location: Waterloo Airport (ALO) | One Way: $12 | Roundtrip: $24 |
| Location: Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) – near Cedar Rapids | One Way: $27 | Roundtrip: $54 |
| Location: Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) | One Way: $60 | Roundtrip: $120 |
Shuttle service is offered for all the locations above for the start of the school year arrivals, Christmas break departures and returns, and end of the school year departures. Only Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) and Waterloo (ALO) options are available during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Tour Week Break.
Planning Ahead: Please choose your shuttle and other travel tickets carefully so that you will get to your airport or bus station in plenty of time for security check-in and boarding. You must be on time for the shuttle! For students flying into an airport before boarding the shuttle, you may want to consider arriving a day or several hours earlier in case of flight delays. The shuttle will not be able to wait for passengers on flights delayed more than an hour.
Be sure to read all disclaimers before reserving your seat.

Refunds: I understand that I will not receive a shuttle ticket refund if I cancel my shuttle reservation within seven days of the shuttle travel date. If I request a refund by emailing the Student Life Office at shuttle@wartburg.edu more than seven days before the shuttle travel date, I understand that I may be charged a $5 processing fee. If shuttle dates are canceled or rearranged due to changes in the academic schedule, shuttle registrations will be refunded fully with no processing fee.
Schedule: I understand that shuttles must leave on time (please arrive at the shuttle location 15 minutes early for loading), and that if I’m late, the shuttle may not be able to wait for me. All shuttles will pick up or drop off students on the street just south of Cardinal Commons/Grossmann Hall on campus (Third Avenue NW). I realize I must allow for at least 90 minutes between shuttle arrival and flight/bus departure to allow for check-in and security. For flight arrivals, I should allow at least 90 minutes before my shuttle departure for deplaning and baggage claim. The College is not liable if I miss my flight/bus due to inadequate timing.
Weather delays: I understand weather can impact travel plans. I understand that if my bus/flight/travel plans are postponed or rescheduled due to weather, and I cannot meet the Wartburg Shuttle at the scheduled time, Wartburg College will work with me on an alternate transportation plan, but I will be responsible for any overnight lodging and meal costs. If my travel plans change due to personal issues and I miss the shuttle, I will be responsible for my own transportation and costs. (We recommend you arrange your flight so you arrive a day or hours before the shuttle time, as a cushion in case of a delayed flight.)
Communication: I understand that the College may need to contact me at the cell phone number and Wartburg email address I’ve provided above with important reminders, cancellation information and other travel announcements. It’s my responsibility to be checking for messages during travel.
Shuttle Fees: Airport shuttle fees are applicable for all airport transportation services, even if outside of scheduled service times.
