Academic Support & Intervention

All ARC professional staff provide academic coaching to students. These sessions are what we refer to as “accountability meetings.” Accountability meetings look different for every student in terms of frequency and content. A few examples of when you might benefit from meeting with ARC professional staff:

• You have a lot on your plate this term and need help creating a schedule and sticking to a to-do list
• You took your first exam in a class and it didn’t go as well as you hoped so you want to talk through learning strategies
• You’ve been struggling to stay motivated to attend classes and find yourself needing to get caught back up

These concerns can pop up at any time and could range from one meeting to share some advice to meeting every week to support continued skill development and academic independence. Meetings focus on you having what you need to achieve your academic goals throughout your entire experience at Wartburg.

Academic Resource Center staff are located in Vogel Library and share space between the second and third floor. You can find half of our team in Suite 204 and the other half in Suite 314. If you’re meeting someone for the first time, they will share their office location!

If you’re looking to find support for the first time, you can stop into either space and will be directed to a professional staff member as needed.

The Academic Resource Center is happy to partner with classes, departments, teams, or other groups to present workshops on varying topics. Contact Grace Mangrich to work collaboratively on a topic, timing, and presenter. Previous workshop topics have included: 

• Introduction to academic resources at Wartburg. These can be specific to a class, group, or team.
• Peer tutoring and writing consultation overview.
• Academic skills development, including post-first exam review, time management, goal setting, self-advocacy and growth mindset.
