At age 11, Abhay Nadipuram helped raise $20,000 to help buy his hometown fire department an infrared camera. That zeal for leadership and service has continued throughout his life, especially in the realm of law and politics.
While at Wartburg, Nadipuram was elected student body vice president and president. After graduating in 2010, he enrolled at the University of Iowa College of Law, where he again served in student government. He was also co-president of the Iowa Student Bar Association.
“I had the opportunity to learn and interact with Abhay in numerous ways while we were students at Wartburg,” wrote Amy Tucker ’10, one of his nominators. “He was a trusted leader and had an innate ability to bring people together.”
Since his professional career began, Nadipuram has served on the governing board for the Iowa State Bar Association. As president of the Young Lawyers Division, he encouraged legal employers to be more inclusive in the workplace and helped launch a tool to help employers create more inclusive work environments.
In addition to leadership in the legal field, Nadipuram has been involved with Iowa Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, the Des Moines Choral Society, the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter, the American Cancer Society, the Iowa Asian Alliance, the Iowa Law School Foundation, and Wartburg’s President’s Advisory Council.
“He is keenly interested in making Iowa a better place,” said his father, Dr. Mukund Nadipuram.
Nadipuram actively encourages others to follow in his footsteps. Along with his parents, he created the Nadipuram Washington D.C. Experiential Learning Scholarship, which is awarded to students interested in civic engagement and political science so they can complete an internship or other opportunity in the nation’s capital. He and his wife have also supported the Zahn Choir Trip Fund.
For his embodiment of service through his dedication to uplifting those around him, the Wartburg College Alumni Board is pleased to present a 2025 Young Alumni Award to Abhay Nadipuram ’10.
