Wartburg organ students to perform at last Bach’s Lunch of the year

Six Wartburg College organ students will be featured at the final Bach’s Lunch organ recital series of the season Friday, April 11.

The free concert will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Wartburg Chapel. It will be preceded by a noon lunch and conversation with the students in the Chapel Commons. Those performing are:

• Hannah Johnson, a junior from Aplington, playing “Sortie in F major” by Leon Boellman.

• Elijiah McDonald, a sophomore from Alleman, playing “Prelude in G minor” from the “Little Eight Preludes and Fugues.”

• Hanna Langley, a junior from Cedar Rapids, playing “The Peaceable Things” by Clay Christiansen.

• Holden Willrett, a sophomore from Mason City, playing “Prelude in F major” from the “Little Eight Preludes and Fugues.”

• Haley Hansen, a junior from Clarence, playing “In Thee Is Gladness — In dir ist Freude,” a setting by Karen E. Black.

• Carter Horman, a freshman from Lowden, Iowa, playing “Thaxted” by David Cherwien.

Adjunct Piano Professor Diane Beane is the instructor this term while Karen Black is on sabbatical. Beane is a former organist and director at of music at Redeemer Lutheran Church and a former choral accompanist at Waverly-Shell Rock High School.

Participants are invited to bring their lunch to eat at lecture.
