Nathan Landes

Lecturer in Music

Nathan Landes, a lecturer in music at Wartburg College, teaches private bassoon lessons, double-reed methods classes, and an introduction to ethnomusicology. Prior academic experience includes teaching musicology courses at Indiana University and private bassoon at the University of Rhode Island. His research expertise is in popular music; his dissertation on heavy metal music looks at how academics shape perceptions of metal music through their musical tastes and intellectual ideals. He also has academic interests in hip hop and the blues.

When not lecturing, Nathan is a Senior Project Manager for a music electronics company, where he primarily focuses on speaker projects. He lives in Cedar Falls with his wife Molly and his three children Vivienne, Jack, and Hal. In his free time he enjoys playing games of all sorts and learning about things of all sorts.
