Dr. Johnson-Ross is the college’s chief academic officer and accreditation liaison officer. She has served on the faculties of McDaniel and Wofford Colleges, as director of the Mayor’s Scholars Program at Baltimore City Community College (BCCC), and senior vice president of academic innovation for BridgeEdU, Inc.
Debora Johnson-Ross has been a dedicated educator for nearly three decades, supporting student success as a faculty member, administrator, mentor and scholar in public, private and entrepreneurial settings. Trained as a comparative political scientist, Johnson-Ross’ scholarly work focuses on politics of identity, ethnicity and nationalism, Cameroon politics and best practices in transitioning young humans from high school to college. Her broad international experience includes teaching international law and African politics as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Buea [Boy-ah] in Cameroon and returning there as a consultant to lead workshops on conducting qualitative research, and entrepreneurship and community service as engines of local development. She has developed curricula for graduate programs in public administration and economic development for several Cameroonian and African Union institutions. She has led service-learning trips to Cameroon and Zimbabwe and worked professionally in Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Johnson-Ross serves on the boards of Allen College, Higher Education Resource Services (HERS), Common Ground on the Hill (a social justice through the arts nonprofit), and on the Council for Independent Colleges CAO Task Force. She is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Phi Beta Kappa.
