Dr. Glenn Fenneman ’62

Glenn Fenneman, age 86, of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Glenn was born June 25, 1940, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Edna (Kohlman) Fenneman. He was baptized and confirmed at First United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley, rural Plainfield. Glenn attended Dayton #7 (Shady Dell) country school until the 8th grade and then Clarksville High school graduating in 1958. Glenn then attended Iowa State University in 1958 and then Wartburg College in Waverly graduating in 1962 with his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He received master’s degree in mathematics from State College of Iowa (University of Northern Iowa) in 1966 and received Ed. D. in Mathematics at the University of Colorado in 1973. Glenn was united in marriage to Gail Brocka on July 28, 1962, at the United Church of Christ in Allison, Iowa. He taught high school mathematics at Dunkerton High School from 1962 to 1965, at Wartburg College from 1966 to 2001 and for one year at the University of Northern Colorado, 1969 to 1970. Glenn retired in 2001 with Emeritus Status.

Glenn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was Council President, Kiwanis where he was past President and Secretary, Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Wartburg Community Symphony Board. Glenn’s greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. Glenn also enjoyed selling Kiwanis Christmas Trees, volunteer handyman at Friends of the Family, riding unicycle when he was younger, wood working where he made several pieces of furniture, following Wartburg Events, following the national figure skating competition, ballroom dancing, and traveling where he has visited over 50 States and 45 Countries.

Glenn’s memory is honored by: wife, Gail Fenneman of Waverly; two daughters, Gretchen DeVore of Clarksville, Iowa, and her husband Kurt of Oceola, Iowa; Laura (Jeremy) Sessler of Denver, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Michael, Zachary, Maxwell and Joseph DeVore and Allison Sessler and Jacob (Sydney) Sessler; two great granddaughters, Sienna and Millie Sessler; and a brother, Bruce Fenneman of Clarksville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Robert Fenneman; and sister, Louise Fenneman in infancy.
