Dolores M. Boehm, 97, of rural Wadena, Iowa, died Saturday evening, April 13, 2024, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, Iowa, with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington and for one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment: Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, Iowa. Memorials may be directed in her name to the Bremwood Children’s Home, EWALU or LSI. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Dolores Marie Pipho was born March 1, 1927, in rural Denver, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond & Agnes (Spier) Pipho. She was raised in rural Denver and was confirmed on March 29, 1942. Dolores graduated from Denver High School in the class of 1944. She continued her education at Wartburg College in Waverly and graduated from the Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls with a BA in elementary education. Following graduation, she moved to Texas and then to Dike where she taught elementary school until the time of her marriage. On December 27, 1950, Dolores was united in marriage to Herman N. Boehm at Maxfield Lutheran Church, rural Readlyn, Iowa. Dolores then traded her teaching career to that of a farm wife and mother. Dolores and Herman farmed and raised their family in Dike, Sumner and Wadena area. Dolores was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner and then at St. John Lutheran Church & WELCA in Arlington. At her churches, she taught Sunday school, bible school and confirmation class. Dolores was also a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Chianedaw Club. Dolores had a lifelong love of music. She was an excellent vocalist, singing into her 90’s. She saw to it that her children and grandchildren were involved in band and vocal music. Dolores was a huge Iowa State Cyclone fan, where many of her children and grandchildren have attended. Dolores also had a love of nature, tending to her flowers, cows and feeding the birds. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Dolores is survived by her 6 Children: Kurt (Rhonda) Boehm of Fontanelle, Eric (Cindy) Boehm of Wadena, Chris (Mary Anne) Boehm of Wadena, Jean (Rick) Gage of Wadena, Marcus (Angie) Boehm of Elgin and Matthew (Amy) Boehm of Elgin; 15 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Lois Kean of Cedar Falls & Nieces & Nephews.
