Ann Huck Bahlmann ’57

Ann Margaret Bahlmann, 90, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Monday evening, April 27, 2026 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Ann was born on March 22, 1936, in Jefferson Township, Iowa, the daughter of Gladys E. (Pape) and Leslie W. Huck. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly on March 29, 1936 and confirmed in 1950 at St. John Spring Fountain Church. Ann graduated from Sumner High School, attended Wartburg College and proudly earned her teaching certificate. On June 29, 1958, Ann was united in marriage to Duane Clarence Bahlmann at Spring Fountain Church in Sumner, Iowa. Ann taught country school until starting her family. She later worked part-time for the Waverly-Shell Rock Schools. For eighteen years after retirement, Ann and Duane enjoyed wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama. After over sixty-seven years of marriage, Duane passed away this past January.

Ann was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waverly where she was a Dorcas member. Quilting was her favorite hobby. In earlier years, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and canned her produce. She liked playing cribbage, five hundred and pinochle. Family time was most important; she loved her grandkids and attending their school activities, especially musical events.

Ann is survived by four children, Rick (Denise) Bahlmann of Miller Place, NY, Teresa (Gary) Kampman of Waverly, Melodee (David) Thuesen of Waverly, and John Bahlmann of Waverly; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence (Rosemary) Huck; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane; her parents; a grandson, Brad Bahlmann; brothers, Eugene (Shirley) and Larry Huck; and a sister, Betty (Charles) Struck.
