Choir Placements
Joining a choir is simple
Placements for all choirs will be held from Monday, Sept. 7, to Wednesday, Sept. 9. Please note that Tuesday, Sept. 8, is reserved for incoming voice scholarship recipients and incoming music majors only. You are welcome to sing in multiple choirs, so feel free to audition for more than one.
Nonauditioned Choirs
No preparation is required for nonauditioned choirs. We will do a range check to determine which voice part you will sing. The choir placement will be in Liemohn Choral Music Hall, Bachman Fine Arts Center.
Auditioned Choirs
Your audition will include a range check, a short segment of a prepared solo of your choosing (or something like My Country ‘Tis of Thee), tonal memory exercises, and a short sight-reading excerpt. We will provide an accompanist for you or you can bring your own. You are also welcome to sing a cappella. If you bring a piece to sing, please bring a copy of the music for the accompanist. Photocopies are fine. Callbacks for Wartburg Choir and Castle Singers will be held Sept. 10.
