Current Research and Interests
I am an ecosystem ecologist whose research focuses on ecosystem processes across diverse terrestrial environments, particularly at the interface of native and human-impacted ecosystems. My work involves understanding the complex interactions between biotic and abiotic components in these environments and how these interactions are altered by human activities. Currently, I employ meta-analytic approaches and computer-based modeling to study how human activities alter nutrient flows and cycling in agricultural and urban settings, and how these changes impact ecosystem and human health. This includes examining the dynamics of soil carbon and nitrogen cycling, primary productivity, and the implications of these changes on soil health, plant growth, and ecosystem services. My research aims to provide insights into sustainable land management practices that can mitigate the adverse effects of human activities on ecosystems and promote ecological resilience.
My other research interests include education for sustainable development and interdisciplinary collaborations between ecology and social science. In the realm of sustainable development education, I aim to explore the roles of education in shaping ideology, social structures, and promoting sustainability. My interdisciplinary work bridges ecology and social science to investigate how human perceptions and behaviors influence ecological systems, and vice versa, ultimately aiming to promote holistic approaches to environmental stewardship.
