Wartburg students invited to study, relax before finals begin

Wartburg College faculty and staff will spend three hours Sunday, April 13, helping students enter finals week ready for exams.

The Great Escape, a study marathon and stress-reduction gathering for all students, will begin at 6:30 p.m., in Vogel Library. Professors, Writing/Reading/Speaking Lab consultants, and librarians will be available to assist with term projects, exam preparation and stress reduction.

Counseling Services and Entertainment ToKnight, the student-run programming organization, will host games and other de-stressing activities, including a giant game of Kerplunk, Origami lessons, Play-Doh and music.

The Rev. Ramona Bouzard, pastor and Wartburg Chapel dean, will host a prayer session at 8 p.m.

“This is our first time hosting such an event. Our hope is that it will help students go into exam week with a positive and optimistic attitude, having studied and enjoyed themselves as part of a community,” said Jette Irgens, Pathways associate for the Writing/Reading/Speaking Lab.

Irgens added it was easy to find faculty and staff volunteers because “they want to support their students.”
