Wartburg College is the top regional college in Iowa according to the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings released today. Wartburg ranked seventh among all Midwest Regional Colleges, which included 91 schools from 12 states.
The college also secured the seventh spot on the Top Private Schools – Regional Colleges list. Rankings are based on student outcomes, like graduation rate, retention, and post-graduation debt and earnings; peer assessment; and faculty resources, like student-faculty ratios and the proportion of full-time faculty, among other things.
“This recognition reflects the collaborative work happening across campus to help all our students thrive both on campus and after graduation,” said Rebecca Ehretsman, Wartburg College president. “We continue to invest in the academic opportunities, relationships and experiences central to a Wartburg education. Our outstanding faculty and staff have sharpened their focus on student retention and strengthened the ways they identify and respond to students who may need additional support.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings, which date back to 1983, offer detailed information on the institutions and data on factors such as graduation rates and post-graduate earnings.
