Assistant Professor of Physics

Ph.D., Dartmouth College, 2021
B.S., University of Science and Technology of China, 2015

I teach a range of undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy, emphasizing hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and creativity. My teaching integrates projects that connect scientific concepts to creative storytelling and real-world problem solving, helping students develop both technical understanding and expressive communication skills.

My research investigates the evolution of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) powered by supermassive black holes and their host galaxies. I explore the connections between black hole growth, galaxy evolution, and the cosmic environment using data analysis techniques and multiwavelength observations from Chandra, XMM-Newton, Keck, Rubin, and JWST.

At Wartburg, I co-advise the Society of Physics Students, manage the Wartburg Platte Observatory, and lead public outreach initiatives that promote community engagement with science.

Before joining Wartburg College, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Penn State. I earned my Ph.D. in physics and astronomy from Dartmouth College in 2021 and my B.S. in astronomy from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2015.
