William Wachholz ’63

William “Bill” Wachholz, 85, of Wausau, WI, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025.

Bill was born on January 15, 1940, in Wausau to Marvin and Irmagard Wachholz. On June 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, Shirley Mielke. Together, they shared 24 wonderful years of marriage until Shirley’s passing, a time that was far too short.

Bill devoted his professional career to Radant Insurance Agency, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impact. Beyond his career, he gave 50 years of service to the Wausau Noon Optimist Club and was a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church. His greatest joy, however, was found in family and the game of baseball. Bill spent countless hours at the ball diamond coaching his sons Robert and Kevin’s little league teams, scouting for the pros, and cheering on his alma mater, Wartburg College, where both sons played, and later in life, taking bus trips to Brewer games or proudly keeping stats for his grandson’s teams.

Bill will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, unwavering faith, and love of life, which often included a trip to the casino to try his luck or enjoy a concert.

He is survived by his sons Robert (Kristina) Wachholz and Kevin (Kimberly) Wachholz, and by his grandchildren Chelsea, Brady, Addyson, and Kylee Wachholz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Irmagard Wachholz; his wife, Shirley; and his dear friend, Janet Kriescher.

All obituary information has been taken from the funeral home, newspaper or other online resource.
