Wenhsiu “Yeehan” Wu, of Carlisle, accomplished pianist and piano instructor, passed away at her residence on October 21, 2023 following a five-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 45.
Yeehan was born in Taiwan on October 25, 1977. She began to learn the piano at the age of 4, and passed certificate level 10 at the age of 9. She was the prizewinner of the Kaohsiung City Youth Piano Competition. She continued her passion for piano and singing through high school and continued her music studies in Iowa, before going on to receive a Master’s degree with honors from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.
Throughout her career, Yeehan worked as a professional pianist and piano instructor, playing throughout the United States and internationally as a solo pianist, accompanist, and chamber musician. She was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Music Teachers National Association, Massachusetts Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education. She was recognized by Carnegie Hall for her tireless dedication to teaching and mentoring students in the art of music performance. In addition to her professional efforts, she also offered her musical talents to local churches to help others through their prayer and worship. She also taught many talent students who won many Piano competitions for the past 25 years.
In addition to her passion for music, Yeehan enjoyed painting, crafts, making hand soaps and roast coffee, gardening, travel, cooking & baking, playing with children, shopping and photography.
Yeehan is survived by her loved husband Yuan Gao, loved daughter Sara Gao, and all relatives of the Wu and Gao families .
