Stephen Soules, 59, of Minneapolis passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2026.
Stephen William Soules was born May 2, 1967 in St. Louis Park Minnesota to William and Kathryn Soules. He joined his four older siblings, thus completing the Soules family.
Stephen graduated from Hopkins High School in 1985. He started his college education at Wartburg College in Iowa. Truly a Minnesota boy, he was soon drawn back to the Twin Cities. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, Hamline University, and Bethel University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Stephen’s love of all things water began as a boy. He grew up near Minnehaha Creek, where he spent countless adventurous hours fishing, ice skating, sledding, and canoeing. Stephen developed a love for the Mississippi River while working on the Padelford sightseeing riverboat as a teenager. This love of the Mississippi turned into his decade’s long career with Upper River Services, a Mississippi River full-service harbor management operation. Whether on, in, or just nearby, Stephen’s love of water was a constant in his life.
Stephen made every effort to attend all family gatherings, including the weddings and graduations of his nieces and nephews.
During his stepmother Marcia’s extended terminal illness, Stephen stepped forward and provided company and support for both Marcia and Bill during that difficult time. Stephen showed up with dedication and love on behalf of the whole family.
Stephen is survived by his father William Soules, of Minnetonka, MN; sister Ruth Soules of Belle Plaine, MN; brother David Soules (Lisa) of Bartlesville, OK; sister Ann Rader (John) of Kyle, TX; brother Robert Soules (Lori) of Menomonie, WI; beloved aunt Joanne Keedy of St. Louis Park, MN; fourteen nieces and nephews, along with many cousins.
Stephen also leaves behind life-long friends: Doug, Kent, Joel, Brian K, and Brian B.
Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Kathryn and his stepmother Marcia.
All obituary information has been taken from the funeral home, newspaper or other online resource.
