Ruth Ann Kobliska, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2026, at her home in Waverly.
Ruth was born on August 13, 1937, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of J. Stanley and Nettie (Riepe) Eifert. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1955, Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in 1957, and Wartburg College in 1961. On August 21, 1961, she married the love of her life, William R. Kobliska, in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 1962, Ruth and Bill moved to San Diego, California, where they lived until 2015, when they returned to Waverly. While in San Diego, they raised their three children. Ruth worked as a middle school teacher, primarily teaching sixth grade, until her retirement in 1998. She took great pleasure in working with her many students in the Alpine School District. She was active in her church, was an avid reader, and enjoyed her involvement in Delta Kappa Gamma, advocating for the excellence of education worldwide.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Bill Kobliska of Waverly; her children and children-in-law: Michael and Kay Kobliska of San Diego, California; Karen and Jon Jorgensen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Sam and Andrea Kobliska of Noblesville, Indiana; and her grandchildren Kelly Kobliska, Ryan Kobliska, Kelsey Jorgensen, Mackenzie Jorgensen, and Jack Jorgensen. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, J. Stanley and Nettie Eifert, and by her brother, James Eifert.
