Rev. John C. Sieverts age 72 of Minocqua, WI, formerly of Waterloo, IA, died Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Country Terrace Home in Minocqua.
John C. Sieverts, born on December 10, 1951, to John J. and Anna Mae (Johnson) Sieverts. John was baptized and confirmed at Crane Creek, where he began a lifelong journey of devotion and leadership in the Lutheran Church.
A proud member of the New Hampton High School Class of 1970, John continued his education at Waldorf College, graduating in 1972, followed by Wartburg College in 1974, and finally earning his degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1979. He was ordained on August 10, 1980, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crane Creek.
Throughout his ministry, John served these congregations: 1980-1983 Rush Lake Lutheran, Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada;1984-1987 Rabbit Lake Lutheran, Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada;1987-1988. interim pastor at Messiah Lutheran, Charles City, lowa;1988-1991 Hope-Immanuel Lutheran, Little Port/Elkport, lowa;1992-1993 interim pastor at American Lutheran, Jesup, lowa; 1993-1995 Little Sioux Lutheran, Milford, lowa; 1995-1998 Redeemer Lutheran, McLaughlin, South Dakota; 1998-2006 Zion American Lutheran, Scotland, South Dakota. He retired from active ministry in 2006 and relocated to Waterloo, IA, where he continued to serve his community through various jobs, including several years at Tyson Foods.
John had a deep love for gardening and found joy in tinkering with woodworking projects and refinishing furniture. His home was a sanctuary filled with cherished cats and houseplants, which he nurtured with great care.
John is survived by two cousins, Beverly Jerdee of New Hampton, Bonnie Helland of Springfield, MO; as well as many extended cousins and relatives.
He was Preceded in death by his Parents and an infant brother Terry Lee Sieverts.
