On Tuesday December 16, 2025, our brother in Christ, David Roland Hagemann, died at Essentia Health- St. Mary’s Medical Center due to pulmonary complications while battling cancer.
David was born to Robert F. Hagemann and Lorraine A. (Kolczaski) on December 2, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma. David spent his childhood years growing up in Mendota llinois, a small farming community, 60 miles west of Chicago. He was a member and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota. While in Mendota, he graduated from Mendota High School in 1973 and went on to Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa.
His seminary work was completed at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque Iowa, and he became an ordained minister of the American Lutheran Church in October 1981. David completed his masters work at the University of Wisconsin Superior.
David’s life was dedicated to the service of others, and his passion was known in many clergy communities, most recently at Elim Lutheran Church in Barnum Minnesota. His calm, loving, accepting nature created a positive impact on countless individuals, who will miss him dearly. He enjoyed photography, reading from his extensive home library, especially all the works of Stephen King, and mostly spending joyful and reflective times with his colleagues and friends in the beautiful Minnesota surroundings.
David is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his younger brother, Dale (Deb) Hagemann; younger sisters, Debra (David) Hof, and Donna (James) Kuntzi; and his stepmother, Donna (Pfeifer) Hagemann.
