Lila Antholz Nietfeld ’54

Lila Anna [Antholz] Nietfeld was born to Arthur & Helene [Ommen] Antholz, on August 23, 1932. Lila and her sister, Lucile, were raised north of McDonald, KS. She would gratefully recall family life on the farm and in the small surrounding communities—including active participation in the church where she was baptized, confirmed and nurtured in her faith. The family moved to Greeley, CO, but not before her introduction to Clayton Nietfeld in 1946, who she would marry 8 years later.

Lila graduated from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.

Clayton & Lila were united in marriage on August 8, 1954. Lifelong friendships were established and cherished as they made a home in 18 cities throughout four states in their 62 years together. Children born to this union were: Katherine, Timothy and Eileen.

Lila used her degree to teach kindergarten and run a preschool. In addition, she lived a humble life of service as a homemaker & wife to Clayton in his years as farmer, parish worker, student, pastor & retiree; as a stay-at-home Mom, providing nurture in raising their children; and as a loving daughter & care-giver to her parents in their final years. She was a prayer warrior and reached out to others with hospitality, a listening ear and—most notably—in correspondence sent via “snail mail” to honor recipients’ special times and dates—always including inspirational inserts as reminders of God and His faithfulness!

The Lord called Lila to her heavenly home on June 14, 2025, at the age of 92.

Lila is survived by: Kate & Randy Dirks; Melodee & Abe, Julia & Abigail Penner; Tyler & Carrie, Margaret, Henry, Haven, Phinehas & Winston Dirks; Tim & Konda Nietfeld; Amanda & Michael, Ellis & Oliver Giles; Haley & Christian, Jemma & Hannah Jacobson; Eileen & David, Ben Stirtz.
