Jeffrey Wad ‘74

Jeffrey James Wad age 74 of Nashua died Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his home.

Jeffrey James Wad, born on May 23, 1950, in New Hampton, Iowa, he was the son of Earl and Wilma (Ransom) Wad and grew up in Ionia, where he developed a passion for art and education.

A proud graduate of New Hampton High School in 1968, Jeffrey furthered his education at Wartburg College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Art and Elementary Education. His love for his hometown led him back to Ionia, where he worked in various roles before dedicating himself to a fulfilling career with the United States Postal Service. Known for his friendly demeanor and dedication, Jeffrey took great pride in his rural route and received several accolades for his exemplary service.

Outside of work, Jeffrey was an adventurous spirit, sharing many memorable trips to Europe with his mother. He had a deep appreciation for nature, often spending time in his garden, honing his painting skills, and capturing beautiful moments through photography. His creative pursuits were a testament to his vibrant personality and zest for life.

Jeffrey was also a compassionate soul who took it upon himself to care for the graves of his relatives across various cemeteries in northeast Iowa. This act of love reflected his deep commitment to family and community.

He is survived by three nephews, Robert Whalen, Travis Whalen, James Wad; four nieces, Paula Whalen Barnett, Kathy Whalen Aushsteller, Kimberly Taylor, Kari Lampman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jerry Wad and one sister, Earla Whalen.
