James George Mann, resident of Homer Glen, IL, died suddenly and unexpectedly on February 21, 2022 at the age of 73.
James is survived by his mother Arlene Mann, his wife Delores Onate, his sons Paul (Meriel), and David (Sherry), the mother of his children Elizabeth Mann, stepson, David Karaffa and four grandchildren, Evan, Sean, Olin, and Jin, his brother Douglas (Sandra) and sister Christine.
James was born in Dubuque, Iowa on January 20, 1949 to Floyd and Arlene Mann. He spent most of his young life in Boscobel, WI. He later attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA graduating with a B.A. in Business and Economics. He taught at a small Christian school in Michigan for 5 years using A.C.E. and Becca teaching curriculums and started a Master’s Program at Western Michigan University. Later he switched his career focus and worked for 28+ years as a licensed union plumber.
During college James was introduced and mentored by The Navigators, a Christian ministry whose purpose is the discipling of Christians with a particular emphasis on enabling them to share their faith with others. The training received in his early years with The Navigators, gave James a lifelong love of the Scriptures as he continued throughout his life to disciple, teach and mentor others. His greatest passion was Bible study, teaching and sharing the truth of the Gospel. James further shared his passion for Bible study by authoring and publishing a commentary/Bible study guide on the Book of Revelation titled What in Heaven and on Earth is Jesus Doing?
As a hobby James enjoyed graphics and drawing. He loved drawing illustrations accompanied by Bible verses to be used as visual teaching tools helping others gain a better understanding of Scriptures.
James was a devoted father and had a great love for his sons and grandsons. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, and all who knew him.
